Never before in the history of journalism has the power of the individual been so amplified. Technology has revolutionized reporting and distribution. And yet, women continue to be significantly underrepresented in bylines, articles and positions of clout in media.
Exceptional Women in Publishing is thrilled to host a conversation with two leaders who have been working for decades to help women and girls around the world use and share their voices.
Jeanne Bourgault is the CEO of Internews, a global nonprofit that has been training media professionals, online activists, and citizen journalists in some of the most challenging communities on earth for more than three decades. Internews’ strategic initiative Women’s Voices, Powering Change seeks to ensure women’s safe access to information, content production, and leadership. That is familiar territory to award-winning documentarian Amie Williams, co-founder and executive director of Global Girl Media. GGM empowers young women, ages 14-22, to find their voice and tell the stories that matter because they matter to girls.
Join us for engaging conversation, networking, and drinks as Bourgault and Williams share the challenge of achieving gender parity, celebrate women leading change, and offer solutions: from teaching data-driven reporting to immersive storytelling.
