The extra investigative training session will feature Jennifer LaFleur, Rosemary Armao, Maud Beelman and Susy Schultz and take participants through all the steps of crafting a story, getting the goods with interviews, doing the digging and bringing the project home.

For anyone interested in copy editing training, the American Copy Editors Association (ACES) is also holding a daylong workshop the day prior to CAMP at the same location.

NABJ Conference in Oakland, CA

nabj-treeThe National Association of Black Journalists of Regionl VI will hold their 2014 Conference, “Journalism & Technology: The Next Frontier” in Oakland, California on September 5th and 6th. Journalists, media and communication professionals and students are invited to participate in the conference which takes place at the Waterfront Hotel in Oakland’s Jack London Square district. There is a Friday night mixer and a Saturday night dinner/dance along with a full day of workshops offering information and discussion on the impact and future of technology in media.

Kritine ShineIn January, the Hearst Corporation introduced digital sales and marketing veteran Shine as president of the 149-year-old newspaper. And on June 9, she will serve as the keynote speaker for the EWIP and AAMP Luncheon.

Shine, 43, is the former chief revenue officer at PopSugar – a women’s lifestyle website, which focuses on media, commerce and technology. She brings more than 20 years of experience to her new position, including her role as vice president of sales at advertising company Spot Runner and director of sales for Microsoft.

At the June 9th EWIP/AAMP luncheon Kristine Shine will share with attendees how the SF Chronicle and SFGate.com’s readers have changed, audience development strategies that have been effective, and how important the Bay Area is to the advertising community.
